Halpern Enterprises, Inc. was founded by the late Bernard Halpern, who came
to this country from Poland in 1938 at the age of 16. With the dream of
starting a new life in America, he settled in Atlanta, learned English by
attending night school, and within two years had saved enough money to purchase
his own grocery store. Bernard later sold the store and became a residential real
estate developer, specializing in duplexes, triplexes and small apartment complexes.
In the early 1960's, he exchanged his residential properties for shopping centers in
the Atlanta area. His wife and children joined him in the company, and upon his death
in 1980, took over its management.
Today, Halpern remains a family owned and operated business. Since 1990, Jack Halpern
has served as President, and his sister, Carolyn Halpern Oppenheimer, as Vice President.
They have continued to successfully expand the business through new development and
acquisitions, and have recruited a talented and dedicated management team. With more
than 50 years in the industry, Halpern Enterprises is recognized as one of the
Southeast's most experienced shopping center development and management companies.
The company has been built on a solid foundation of integrity and a long-range view
of business relationships. It is proud to maintain a total commitment to the highest
ethical standards and practices established by its founder.
